Disability equality
A disability-confident organisation recognises the benefits of getting it right for disabled people and the risks of making mistakes. Implementing disability equality solutions will have wide organisational benefits.
This highly interactive and practical workshop will develop your approach and practice to ensure that inclusion is at the heart of all you do.
It will provide both a theoretical foundation for practice as well as exploring ways of implementing inclusion.
The day is flexible – the trainer will work with what you bring into the room – and practical, as you explore background and theory and develop this into real solutions.
Topics will include:
- The experience of discrimination
- Choosing appropriate language
- The social model, a tool for practice
- Planning for equality
- An overview of your legal duties towards disabled people.
Who should attend?
This workshop is for all managers and staff throughout housing organisations and is suitable for mixed groups, individual departments or task-focused teams.
