Legionella – Management responsibilities

Management responsibilities and the role of people involved in the management structure

All organisations are required to have in place a management structure to take responsibility for legionella issues. Staff responsibilities and lines of communication should be properly defined and clearly documented. Consultants and contractors can help and give advice; but do you know what your responsibilities really are, and what you and your staff are required to do? Get to grips with the requirements of the regulations and what you should be doing to comply with them by using a practical and easy-to-understand approach.

Delegates will learn

  • An overview of legionella and the landlord’s responsibilities
  • The responsibilities of the authorised/responsible/nominated person(s)
  • How to implement the legal requirements as stated in the ACoP (L8)
  • How to employ and supervise consultants and contractors
  • The function of in-house maintenance staff in relation to water systems safety
  • How to assess the efficiency of the system records
  • How to assess sampling and record-keeping procedures.

Who should attend?

Health and safety managers, those delegated to be managerially responsible for the control of legionella, such as heads of maintenance, asset managers and housing managers, operatives, and those responsible for determining contractor competence and assessing risk.
